Let the Celebration Begin!

As we enter this 30th Anniversary season I wanted to thank you for standing with me in this important effort to break the cycle of poverty along North Broad Street.
This year also marks the 20th Anniversary for our People for People Charter School. This public/private partnership has provided a rigorous academic program, anchored in the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, character development, and community engagement, to hundreds of primarily low-income students from throughout North Philadelphia. As a testament to our program we have a waiting list of nearly 3,000 students!
Almost 15 years ago we opened our Early Childhood Development Program in order to provide a good start for the students of our working families. In order to support our students all the way through their educational experience we have established a College and Career Readiness Center. This program includes individualized support and coaching as they prepare their lives for post-graduation. Under the four-year plan, students have the opportunity to interact with community partnerships, participate in a paid summer internship program, enroll in an ACT Exam prep course, visit colleges and universities, and participate in workshops designed to help families navigate the college application and financial aid process.
I take great pride in our strong, close-knit community of students, families and educators. Your support not only makes you part of this community but also helps secure our ability to further enhance the vision we started 30 years ago. Together, WE change lives!
